ABOUT US - SAFETY

At Danis, we embrace safety as an essential component of the growth, success and well being of our organization. We are committed to providing a safe work environment for our employees, your staff, Patients, visitors as well as our subcontractors and suppliers; therefore, we have included safety as a major part of our strategic plans and have an extensive internal auditing process.

It is the policy of Danis that every employee shall be provided a place of employment free from recognized hazards likely to cause physical harm, and to comply with all applicable Federal, State and local regulations affecting the safety and health of its employees. When we work in occupied areas these same standards observed for all affected parties.

When evaluating projects any competent contractor should evaluate it for the safety, infectious control and schedule risks. However, Danis digs several levels deeper evaluating the unknown risks and planning for the risks we cannot immediately control.

We develop a contingency plan for solving any unknowns ahead of time to enable the project to proceed without time delay.

Danis has an award-winning “Safety First” program that has received numerous local and national awards.

Before any Contractor is allowed to begin work on a Danis project, they are required to attend a safety orientation meeting held by the Danis safety officer and the Danis on-site management team. Danis uses this opportunity to review the requirements of the mandatory safety program and outline what is expected of every Subcontractor on the project.

The Danis “Safety First” program includes:

  1. Annual Goals and Monitoring Systems to Track Performance in Accordance with Those Standards
  2. A Pro-Active Employee Safety Committee
  3. Employee Safety Orientation, Training Procedures and Programs
  4. Pre-Hire Mandatory Drug Testing & Random Drug Testing
  5. An Employee Incentive Program
  6. Weekly on Site “Tool Box” Meetings
  7. Job Safety Surveys to Determine Unsafe Conditions and Corrective Procedures
  8. Published and Posted Job Safety Rules
  9. Accident Investigation and Reporting Procedures
  10. Arrangements for Routine and Emergency Medical Services
  11. Continual Safety Educational Program That Complies or Exceeds Regulations for All Employees
  12. Special Instruction for Specific Jobsite Conditions like Confined Spaces, Lockout/Tagout, Trenching/Shoring, etc.
  13. Record Keeping Requirements
  14. Procedures for Inspections
  15. In the event of non-compliance or alleged violation of safety and health regulations, a procedure is provided for eliminating the exposure or to formally contest the alleged violation and/or penalty.

The Danis Safety Policies and Procedures have been developed by the Danis Safety Staff and Senior Management, continually improved by the workforce, and time tested through our partnership with OSHA VPP underscoring the purpose of our overall safety process. Danis has identified the following key areas as critical to meeting our safety objectives:

  • Heightened Awareness is an absolute requirement, and we achieve this by formulating consistent safety policies and procedures for operations and field personnel throughout all business lines.
  • OSEP (Operation Safety Education Program) Targeted safety training and personnel development allows us to continue to improve our safety culture.
  • Best Practices Sharing with associate VPP companies and professional organizations (AGC, ABC, ASSE, NSC, ACIG, etc.) with regard to safety issues plays an important role in achieving consistency and improvement. As we develop new procedures, we ensure the effective transfer of knowledge.
  • Specific Safety Planning occurring at all levels through the organization. Executive Safety planning steers the direction safety grows within the Danis organization. Site Specific Safety Planning focuses the attention to the jobsite specific hazards and elimination/prevention measures for all Danis and Subcontractor work on the jobsite. Morning Huddle Planning targets specific daily tasks at the crew level ensuring the employees performing the work have the final input on their own personal safety.

As a company, our safety record has positioned Danis as one of the top building contractors in safety management.

The concept driving our safety department today is Prevention versus Management! We pride ourselves on reviewing safety issues and planning for hazards up front and early on in a project. We firmly believe many hazardous situations can be eliminated with creative solutions identified by our qualified personnel.

Together, we will continue to achieve great results and be identified as the “Contractor of Choice.”
